The "top ten" questions over the last month are:

How do i set up my emails?

    Account settings.

    - The settings you need to enter in to your email client software after (Microsoft Outlook, OutlookExpress, Netscape Email etc) you have created your Exetel email account(s) are:

    Username: yourmailbox@exemail.com.au (NOT @exeTEL.com.au)
    Password: yourpassword
    Incoming Mail server: pop3.[state].exemail.com.au
    Outgoing Mail server: smtp.[state].exemail.com.au

Please remember that when entering your email address in to your email client you must use the full email address in the account name field, eg: yourname@exemail.com.au not just 'yourname'.

Your email accounts can also be accessed through a normal web browser:

    Webmail:http://webmail.exetel.com.au
    Username: yourmailbox@exemail.com.au (NOT @exeTEL.com.au)
    Password: yourpassword

Setup Guides for your email client

    - Microsoft Outlook
    - Microsoft Outlook Express
    - Netscape Email Client
    - Thunderbird Email Client
    - Macmail Client

When you reach the part of the set up that requests the PoP3 and SMTP server names in to your email client software (Microsoft Outlook, OutlookExpress, Netscape Email etc) these are:

    - POP3: pop3.[state].exemail.com.au
    - SMTP: smtp.[state].exemail.com.au

How do i use my free web space?

    Free web space.

Step 1 - Set up your free web space account by logging into your Members Facilities and following the instructions listed in there.

Step 2 - Once you have created the web pages you wish to appear on your free Exetel web space, you need to upload them from your local computer to the Exetel Server.
        - To do this, you use a protocol called File Transfer Protocol, or FTP. There are a variety of FTP programs available for you to use. You can also use your web browser to connect via FTP.
        - To Use Internet Explorer To Upload Your Files First enter the location/address as: ftp://servicenumber@home.exetel.com.au (e.g.: ftp://0291234567@home.exetel.com.au) - Then enter your password.

Why do my media files keep getting deleted from my free web space?

Media files on the free web space.

    - Exetel has since it began offering ADSL services taken a hard approach to copyright issues; where we believe there is a clear violation of copyright content has been deleted, and in a few cases, directories blocked and 'frozen' pending further investigation by the appropriate law enforcement agency.

    - Based on the MIPI's actions in March 2005 aganst another ISP (People Telecom) and the actual finding guilty of a second ISP in July 2005 (ComCen), Exetel now believe there is a need to take more direct and pro-active action to monitor content stored on publicly accessible servers under its control.

    - Effective from 1st April 2005 scripts will be run nightly that will examine all disk content and delete any multimedia content with the extensions mp3, mpg, mpeg, avi, wma and any other multi media file type. Customers wishing to host files with these extensions need to do the following:
        - 1. Email copyright-request@exetel.com.au and request to be excluded from the scan script.
        - 2. State that you agree you are the copyright owner, have permission of the copyright owner or that there is no copyright on the material you want to store.

You can use this text as a template:

    To: copyright-request@exetel.com.au
Subject: Please Allow directory for media storage
    ADSL line number:
    Webspace name:
I advise that I am the copyright owner, have permission of the copyright owner or that there is no copyright on the files I will place in the above directories, and therefore request they be exempt from automatic deletion.
