Exetel Residential Services (4/6/09)
Exetel have been providing a range of internet and telephone services to residential customers since February 2004. There are now over 80,000 residential customers using a wide range of different Exetel services in every State and Territory. Exetel does no advertising or marketing and engages in no other promotional activities preferring to use the money that those activities would cost to improve all aspects of its network and customer support services
Exetel began offering services to residential users in January 2004 with only one objective:
To provide internet, telephone and other communications service at lower monthly prices than ALL other suppliers of similar services to Australian users at the highest levels of quality and at consistently high speeds.
Since that time we have consistently met those objectives and we have continued to improve the ‘value for money’ offered on a continuing basis. We also maintain a policy of continually enhancing the services we offer at no charge to the end user and without requiring the end user to “change plans” or sign up for new contract periods. So far in 2009 users on current plans have received the following extra benefits at no additional charge:
01/01/09 - An increase in the number of free SMS from 20 to 30 on every broad band plan
10/01/09 - 20 free faxes via broadband to every broadband plan
01/02/09 - An increase in the value of calls in the mobile capped plans quite substantially while leaving the price the same
01/02/09 - An additional small data allowance on all mobile capped plans without increasing the plan costs
10/02/09 - A reduction in the cost of many overseas calls despite the problems with the dollar
01/03/09 - An increase to the 12 midnight to 12 noon included downloads from 48 gb to 54 gb
01/03/09 - We have maintained the 12 hour 'off peak period' when so any other 'ISPs' are decreasing their already less than useful hours
01/03/09 - Increased the Pioneer Discount by $A2.50 per person
01/03/09 - A slight increase to the 'peak' allowances on some plans while reducing some ADSL2 plan costs by up to $10.00 pm.
01/04/09 - 100 free VoIP calls added to all current ADSL1, ADSL2 and Wireless Broadband (post paid/not pre-paid) plans
01/04/09 - 12 midnight to 12 noon download allowance increased from 54 gb to 60 gb
15/5/09 - The ability to select from three different peak/off peak periods
01/6/09 – The ability to port your PSTN number to become a VoIP number
This has been made possible by two things that has characterised the difference between Exetel's way of operating and almost all other 'commercial companies' which are that we are not in business to make as much money as possible from our customers, only enough to ensure we stay in business, and so when we receive cost reductions from our suppliers we invariably pass those benefits on to our users rather than increasing our monthly profits.
