Inclusions with all Broadband Plans

These are free services that are provided as a courtesy to Exetel customers in addition to your Exetel broadband service.

20 Email Addresses

Each Exetel ADSL and wireless broadband plan includes 20 email addresses in the format:

Your selected yourname@exemail.com.au

Email addresses are set up, changed and maintained via the user facilities on the Exetel web site.

These Email accounts are PoP3/SMTP – Exetel does not provide IMAP.

The capacity of each mail box set up by the user is 20 megabytes of storage and the maximum email size that can be sent or received is currently 20 megabytes. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that they keep enough space in each mail box they set up to ensure that email messages aren't "lost" through there being no/not enough capacity to receive them. Exetel don't send advices to customers regarding their mail boxes nearing, reaching or exceeding capacity.

Please bear in mind that this Exetel email service is NOT a suitable method for either permanently storing email messages or for sending large files (which is why almost all email servers have limits lower than the 20 megabytes currently in operation at Exetel) and if someone sends you a large email it may be 'bounced' if there is not enough space in your mail box. If you need to exchange large files with people you should use FTP (which was specifically designed for this purpose).

Not surprisingly there are a significant, and growing, number of email accounts that have been set up and either not used at all or used and then abandoned although they often continue to 'collect' SPAM.

The Exetel email service is not to be used as a permanent storage space for emails received and sent. If you want to keep records for long periods of time you will need to download your emails from the Exetel servers on to your PC. Exetel maintains a 'house keeping' process that is run at the end of each month and performs the following functions:

  1. deletes all accounts that have not been used for more than six months.
  2. deletes any individual email message on the server that is more than three months old.

A Webmail Account For Each Email Address

Each email account can be accessed from anywhere in the world via the webmail facility located on the Exetel web site. From the webmail facility you can receive your email and send email.

200 Megabytes Of Personal Web Space

Each account has an allocation of 200 megabytes of space for the set up and operation of a personal web site. Access to this space is via using one of the 20 allocated email addresses and instructions on how to do this are set out in the user facilities.
The tools provided for this personal web space are:

Traffic to and from your web space by other people accessing your web site doesn't count towards your ADSL/Wireless Broadband or SHDSL plan quotas.

Any customer who uses this web space must ensure that their use doesn't interfere with any other users. If any script or other process used on a customer's no charge web space interferes, in any way, with any other user's free web site use then the privilege of having free web hosting will be revoked immediately and may not be re-instated.

One Static IP Address

Each Exetel ADSL and wireless broadband plan has one static IP address.

Secure User Facilities

Each Exetel ADSL and wireless broadband user has access to a secure user facility area. In this area the user can set up and modify email addresses, check on downloads for the month, check current and past invoices and make changes to contact numbers and payment details.

SMS Sending Via DSL

You can send SMS from the Exetel User Facilities for 5 cents per SMS (160 characters per SMS). Facilities include the ability to send single messages and bulk messages to multiple address lists as well as the ability to use an API to send messages from other programs.

The first 20 SMS (160 characters per message) sent each month are at no charge

Free Services Availability

The free email and web space services are available on a 'best effort' basis only. Like all ADSL services, they have no guarantee of supply, and none should be assumed. They are provided as a free of charge courtesy to Exetel customers only. Users of these services should take special note that the free email and web space services are not suitable for any business purpose and should not be relied upon for any use that is considered important by the end user.
