Exetel's guide to staying connected when disaster events strike.
Extreme weather events such as floods, cyclones, storms, and bushfires are sadly all too common in Australia. But there are some small steps you can take to stay in control:
Keep a hard copy list of key contacts and numbers handy in case you lose power or can’t use your phone.
In the event of power loss, make sure your devices like phones, tablets or laptops and battery packs are charged up and ready to go.
When there’s a storm approaching, or when power surges are on the cards, unplug your modem, and connected devices like computers, so that they’re protected and ready to plug back in when the power returns. Alternatively, you can connect your electrical devices to an electrical outlet with surge protection.
Our app has a self-diagnosis tool called Exray. Once your power has been restored, you can run a full system reboot via Exray, and if a problem is detected, it’ll even book an appointment on your behalf with a technician from nbn.
Exetel has partnered with the NBN to provide some financial aid to those recovering from ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
We know that power outages caused by the cyclone meant some customers in the region experienced internet service disruptions. In response to this we’re applying a credit to the accounts of all eligible customers and waiving any late payment fees they may have incurred during the disruption period.
Exetel customers eligible for financial support will get an email from us with details on the credits we’re adding to their account.
On behalf of the entire Exetel team, we wish you all a safe and speedy return to normal.
For updates on major outages that may occur from natural disasters, please refer to our major outages’ notifications webpage.
We’re here to help. Customers experiencing financial hardship have a right to apply for short term assistance or long-term assistance and this assistance is provided free of charge.
