As the nbn™ fibre upgrade program continues to roll out across Australia, more and more FTTN and FTTC connected addresses will become eligible for an upgrade to a full fibre Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) connection.  

By checking your address above, you will quickly discover if you’re eligible for a FTTP upgrade straight away. 

If your premises has been identified as a “ready for FTTP upgrade” premise, you are eligible for a FREE* connection upgrade to a FTTP provided you order a new high speed nbn plan as follows: 

• The One Plan 500/50Mbps (TES: 500/40Mbps) 

• *Free standard fibre upgrade only. See T&Cs for more information.  

Once you have placed your order for a new high speed nbn plan (like the Exetel One plan) with fibre upgrade to FTTP, we’ll immediately organise the connection process with the nbn. We’ll provide you with an appointment date with a nbn technician to upgrade you to fibre. If you're switching providers, remember to cancel your old service. 

If you have an existing plan with Exetel, when your new high-speed nbn fibre upgrade service activates, your account will be refunded for the prorated unused portion of your FTTN or FTTC service and you will be charged for the monthly fee of the newly activated FTTP service. 

The Exetel Flip to Fibre offer applies to standard Fibre-to-the-home connections only. Additional infrastructure costs or connection charges, such as New Development Charges or unforeseen works may apply. Should there be any additional infrastructure costs, you will be advised and will be responsible for paying in order to proceed.

Nope! Until the completion of your fibre upgrade, you still will have access to your existing copper service. 

A standard upgrade is free*, with no changes to your monthly price. To set up your installation, nbn will create a design plan for your premises.. However, there are cases where nbn will quote additional infrastructure costs or a new development charge or any unforeseen work that may apply for the installation. We will seek your approval for this infrastructure cost and you will be responsible for paying it before proceeding. See Terms & Conditions.

As of the 2nd of April 2016, NBN Co have implemented a $300 nbn New Development Fee to be charged on the first connection to a premises in an NBN Co designated New Development Area. This fee may be applied to each new premises requiring an nbn® connection. This includes, but is not limited to, new dwellings, lots under reconstruction, and new buildings requiring a new mailing address. We will inform you upon signup if this fee may apply.

You’ll be charged only once your FTTP service is active. If you're switching from another provider, it's your responsibility to cancel your current nbn service. Existing customers will be charged once the FTTP service is active and will receive a refund for any unused portion of their current plan. Your service will automatically switch over upon activation, which will also reset your billing anniversary date.

It's always a good idea to upgrade your old Wi-Fi devices as outdated equipment can bottleneck your speeds. In most cases though, your existing nbn-compatible router will work just fine with FTTP. You can chat to our support team on our website if you need help.

You can upgrade if you’re in a rental property, but you’ll need to get written permission from your landlord as the installation may require some non-invasive activities like drilling and digging.
