Our supplier nbn is currently experiencing a Significant local outage.
Severe weather and associated bushfires across Victoria were impacting commercial power supply, resulting in significant disruptions to the nbn® network. Commercial power has been progressively restored, however, after sustaining fire damage, customers connected to the Mount Alexander Fixed Wireless tower may still be experiencing loss of service, or service degradation. The recovery efforts are being coordinated by nbn with guidance from the power providers and Emergency Services. Technicians are being dispatched to site when it is safe to do so.
Nbn services are impacted due to network damage caused by bushfires.
The outage has so far affected 9104 nbn services in the impacted geographical regions. Since the last update, 349 nbn services have been restored. As at 21:30 AEDT on 16/01/2026, 215 Fixed Wireless end users are currently unable to access the nbn® network.
Locations Impacted
Regional Victoria - Axe Creek, Barfold, Barkers Creek, Elphinstone, Eppalock, Faraday, Harcourt, Harcourt North, Malmsbury, Metcalfe, Mia Mia, Myrtle Creek, Redesdale, Sedgwick, Strathfieldsaye, and Sutton Grange.
Technicians are working to restore the affected nbn services as a priority. The site remains offline after sustaining significant fire damage to critical equipment on the tower, which is preventing normal operation. Due to fire impacts, the area continues to be hazardous, and access is being managed under strict safety controls.
If conditions remain safe, full-service restoration is expected on Saturday 17th January 2026, around 18:00 AEDT.
The next update will be provided at around 18:00 AEDT on 17/01/2026 if there is no material change. If we become aware of a material change, we will provide an update as soon as practicable.
