Plan inclusions, prices and promotional offers advertised may not be available at all addresses. The service qualification address check is only a preliminary result of plans and prices available in your area. Please note that the result may vary, together with plans, prices and promotions available at your address, as we process your order and connection.
As of the 2nd of April 2016, NBNco have implemented a $300 nbn New Development Fee to be charged on the first connection to a premises in an NBNco designated New Development Area. This fee may be applied to each new premises requiring a nbn® connection. This includes, but is not limited to, new dwellings, lots under reconstruction, and new buildings requiring a new mailing address. We will inform you upon signup if this fee may apply.
The nbn™ Network Termination Device (NTD) is a connection box provided by nbn to connect your premises to the access network. This connection box may look a bit different dependant on the technology available at your address and the device requires power to operate. Please note: This device is separate to your modem (either supplied by us if selected at sign up, or BYO). If the NTD is not present there may be a delay in activation until your NTD can be dispatched.
Your nbn service will not work during a power outage. This means that you will not be able to make any calls using a service which relies on an active internet service to work (such as VoIP). FTTP enabled properties are able to continue with UNI-V functionality if an nbn battery backup is installed and working. Medical/security alarms; If you have a Back to Base Security Alarm or Medi-Alert connected to your phone service, it's important you contact your medical or security provider to check if they're compatible with the nbn service and identify what alternatives are available. You'll need to arrange this before we move you to the nbn network, or your alarm may not work.

The discounted amount will appear as a credit on your Exetel invoice. You must stay on your purchased plan for the first 6 months to maintain your discount price. A speed tier speed is the theoretical maximum speed of the access line connecting your premises to the nbn™. The actual speeds you experience, particularly during busy periods, may be limited by demand in other parts of the network and will typically be much slower. For more information, see about nbn™ speeds.
Typical Evening Speed is the average speed experienced by a representative group of users between the hours of 7pm and 11pm. It is not a guaranteed minimum speed and past performance is not an indication of expected future speed. The actual speed you will experience depends on many factors such as your access technology, the total demand on the network, local internet traffic and your physical line condition. For more information see about nbn™ speeds.
You can switch between Exetel Fibre plans no more than once each month. Your plan change will come into effect from the date your next invoice is issued so long as you have submitted your plan change request 2 days before your invoice issue date. Changes submitted less than 2 days before your next invoice is issued will take effect the following month. The cost of your new plan will appear on your next invoice. When you change your Exetel Broadband plan to another Exetel Broadband plan the following adjustments will apply:
This is subject to change and at Exetel's discretion.
Superfast and Lightspeed nbn™ speeds are only available at FTTP and limited HFC connected addresses. Download speed performance on these speed tiers will vary significantly depending on time of day. Typical Evening Speed should be used as a guide to likely performance, however as these plans are newly launched we have insufficient data to accurately calculate their Typical Evening Speeds in-field. As we gather more performance data we will quickly replace our estimate of speed performance of these services with in-field data. For more information see about nbn™ speeds. We particularly recommend the use of an Exetel supplied modem when connecting to these speed tiers.
Not all FTTN, FTTB or FTTC access lines support speed tiers above nbn12. We can't confirm your maximum access line speed until after your service has been installed. Once your service is installed and activated, your maximum access line speed will be tested. If your line will not support your chosen speed tier we will inform you and to offer move you to a lower speed tier and refund any extra money you have paid for the higher speed tier.
When you order your service, you can choose to transfer your existing phone number to Exetel Home Phone (VoIP) service. As a VoIP service, your calls will be made over the internet rather than the PSTN network. You will require a VoIP compatible modem to connect this service.
This will give you will access super-low, Pay-As-You-Go call rates. Porting your number is free.
Pay-As-You-Go call rates (Home Phone VoIP):
Call type | Charge |
Untimed Calls: | 10c/call |
National Calls: | 10c/call |
Calls to Australian mobiles: | 20c/min |
Untimed 13/1300 Calls: | 25c/call |
Untimed 1223 | $1.00/call |

A payment verification charge of $1 may be debited to your account at the time of sale. This will be credited back to you on your first invoice. You can also organise to pay by Direct Debit to avoid the 1% Credit Card surcharge.
If you'd like to ensure the optimum performance of your service, and allow Exetel to deliver full remote technical support, you can choose to add a ZTE H1600 WiFi modem with free shipping to your order.
Where advertised as such, the broadband activation fee only is free. Depending on the service ordered, there may be additional up-front charges which are not free and will be charged as per our Terms of Use. These charges include, but are not limited to, charges such as Phone Line Activation Fee or Copper Line Installation Charges, Lead-in or Additional Cabling, Equipment Charges such as Modems, Routers or Splitters, Missed Appointment Fees or any complex on site work required to provide a functional broadband service.
You may cancel your service at any time by giving Exetel thirty days' notice (including if you do not wish to continue to use your service during the notice period).
Plans with unlimited data or call allowances are subject to Exetel's internet acceptable use policy and telephone service acceptable use policy.
