What is 5G?

5G is the fifth generation of mobile network technology. It offers faster speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connections compared to 4G. This means you can enjoy quicker downloads, smoother streaming, and better overall performance on 5G-enabled devices.

Is there a difference between indoor and outdoor coverage?

Yes, indoor coverage can be affected by factors like building materials, walls, and interference, which can sometimes weaken the signal. Outdoor coverage typically offers stronger and more consistent service, as there are fewer barriers. However, 5G networks are improving to provide better indoor coverage as well.

What can I do if my device does not support 5G?

If your device doesn't support 5G, you'll still be able to use 4G, depending on the network coverage. You won’t be able to access the faster speeds and low latency that 5G offers, but your device will continue to work on the available networks.

Which mobile network does Exetel use?

Exetel uses the Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network, which provides extensive coverage across Australia. This ensures you get a reliable and strong connection in most areas. To access 5G, you'll need a 5G compatible device and be within a 5G coverage area. 5G is now available in most metro and regional areas and continues to expand. Check coverage on the map above.

Network details

Exetel is a reseller of telecommunication services powered by leading Australian 4G and 5G networks, helping keep you connected whether you're in the city or on the road. The mobile product of Exetel uses the Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network, with predicted coverage areas in all Australian major cities, most outer-metro areas and larger regional centres, as well as many smaller towns and transport corridors. Predicted coverage details are available on our website.

Speeds may vary due to factors such as location, device capabilities, distance from the base station, local conditions, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration and download/upload destination.

Why is there a difference between coverage displayed on the coverage map and real experience?

While we’ve tried to make our Coverage Map as accurate as possible, the reality is that actual network coverage in some places differs from the map above. This is due to radio-based mobile networks and environment variations. For example, distance from the network base and geographic features like hills, buildings and trees can block mobile signals and affect mobile reception.
